So it is half way through the year, a lot of stuff is happening, and I wanted to reflect on the past few months.
I have been experimenting with different approaches in my work, from ridiculous theoretical to aimless abstract, but I noticed that none of it seems to suit me. I don't feel comfortable with anything I read from books or listen to on Youtube anymore. Maybe my opinion will change in future but for right now, I am going to just follow my mood and approach my work how I did when I first started out.
I still listen to music on Youtube, in fact I listen to music all the time. I think at work they hate me for listening to music, but thankfully I am not going to be working there after the end of this month! Yes, I am changing jobs, moving to a smaller company, away from the evil corporation.
Over Chinese New Year we went to Malaysia again, to visit my wife's family, had an absolute blast!
When we were shopping, I found this really neat ink pen Pilot G-TEC-C 0.25, produces this nice crisp line, I really like it. I didn't used to like drawing with pen but this pen rekindled my interest for drawing with pen. I guess it shows that we can change our minds and should be open to new materials once in a while.
In gaming news, I bought Need for Speed Rivals, I have not even installed it yet, too busy with work and drawing. But I can't wait to play it, it actually looks better than the new Need for Speed and doesn't require a gold account to play (which is why I didn't buy it, lol).
I have been dabbling in Chinese brush painting but with quite disastrous results, my wife told me to focus on traditional Western art until I have that down and then go back to Chinese painting. What I like about the Chinese brush painting though is the smell of the ink, I am not sure if other brands have it, but it has this sweetly smell about it, which puts me into a kind of spell.
Anyway, I have been looking at people's art on DA and I hope to see updates from people here, it's been a little quiet...
Keep well guys,
